Over the last few years there have unfortunately been many bogus but official sounding board certifications
created which have minimal requirements and typically do not even include an examination of any type. An example is
the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. The only legitimate boards are those recognized by the
American Board of Medical Specialties).
These boards have very rigorous and carefully regulated training requirements and usually
administer both written and oral examinations. Dr. Leonard has achieved certification by the following three boards
recognized by the ABMS (year of certification in parenthesis).

Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand, 1990
